Keynote Speakers

Dr. Emre Neftci

Dr. Emre Neftci received his M.Sc. degree in physics from EPFL in Switzerland, and his Ph.D. in 2010 at the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. He is an associate professor in the Department of Cognitive Sciences and Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine and since July 2021, an institute director at the Jülich Research Centre. His current research explores the bridges between neuroscience and machine learning, with a focus on the theoretical and computational modeling of learning algorithms that are best suited to neuromorphic hardware and non-von Neumann computing architectures.

Dr. Julie Grollier

Julie Grollier is a senior researcher in the CNRS/Thales laboratory south of Paris, where she leads the team on nanodevices for neuromorphic computing. Her work is interdisciplinary, from the physics of spintronic and resistive switching materials to the development of learning algorithms for Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Yulia Sandamirskaya

Yulia Sandamirskaya is leading the Application Research team of the Neuromorphic Computing Lab at Intel. Her team develops spiking neuronal network based algorithms for neuromorphic hardware to demonstrate the potential of neuromorphic computing in real-world applications. Before joining Intel, Yulia led a group “Neuromorphic Cognitive Robots” in the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. She was chairing EUCog—the European Society for Artificial Cognitive Systems and coordinated an EU project NEUROTECH, creating and supporting the neuromorphic computing technology community in Europe.
